Mating dance of the mosses

Once every x years, only when there is snow on Easter monday, a strange thing happens around here.

When the snow begins to melt, the mosses put out their heads and start to seduce the others with a special dance. They hold their heads just like the Great Crested Grebe does during his mating dance. Do they have a common ancestor?
The dance of the mosses only takes about 2 minutes and the mating takes place beneath the snow. Mosses are rather shy you know.
I was very lucky to be present at the right time to take this picture.

Old women say that humans aren't supposed to see this mating dance. If they do they start telling all kinds of invented stories.
I do not believe a word of this old womens talk
